First of all, I appreciate that several newcomers have already registered delegates in our new chain. Welcome to the team!
If you're not quite sure how to set up and maintain a delegate, check this:
http://pts.cubeconnex.com/wiki/index.php?title=Setting_up_a_delegate .
You will notice that the initial delegates all have a lot of votes. This was necessary to protect our young chain from instant takeover by an attacker with significant capital (more than 5%), and is simply the result of having the genesis balances vote for initial delegates in a random fashion. Claiming genesis balances will un-vote initial delegates, so we expect approval to change from a random selection to an actual representation of voters' interests over time. I can assure you that our core team is very much interested in getting more people to run delegates for the sake of better decentralization, and we are already changing our own votes in favour of newcomers.
I should also add that you should not expect great riches from running a delegate. Our delegates are purely paid from fees. It is therefore perfectly acceptable to register a 100% delegate. Nevertheless, it is unlikely that delegate income is sufficient to pay for a dedicated VPS.
Because we want to keep this somewhat organized I'd like to propose the following
Delegate Rules(Note that this is merely a proposal. The voters decide, not me.)
1. Use sub-accounts. Register a normal account for yourself under you forum name, and create delegate accounts as sub-accounts of that.
2. Publish (and update) your client version.
3. Create a thread about yourself in this forum section. Delegates must be generally reliable and have certain technical skills, so it might be a good idea to "prove" this with some references.
4. Check this forum regularly. We may need a more direct way of contacting you at some point, but for now this must be sufficient.
Thanks for your support!
